GOLD at Cranex

Last week we were pleased to welcome Mark Smith of Cranex to our Warwick HQ to receive his GOLD certified engineer accreditation from our Technical Director Steve Weavers. 

Cranex have been the FASSI Authorised Service Partner for North East England for over twenty years & Mark is one of our most experienced engineers.

GOLD certified engineers are the master technicians of the FASSI service network. They are experienced practitioners in the diagnosis & repair of the FX500, FX900 & FSC systems.

The FASSI Engineer Training Academy is 10% training & 90% coaching to ensure the engineer can actually implement what they have been taught. To progress through the levels the engineer must demonstrate mastery of all the skills required to our coach, Ken West. It takes a lot of time but creates real expertise.

FASSI UK + National Fluid Power Centre

FASSI UK have partnered with National Fluid Power Centre (NFPC) to integrate their range of hydraulics training courses into our Engineer Training Academy.

The FASSI UK Engineer Training Academy is now into its eighth year & has produced over 150 graduates fluent in the FASSI crane operating systems.

NFPC is the UK’s No.1 training provider for Integrated Systems Engineering (hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics) offering their services to over 300 major companies both across the UK and Internationally.

By partnering with NFPC we have been able to integrate their engineer hydraulic skills assessment tools & tailored hydraulics training courses into the BRONZE engineer accreditation.

The BRONZE level accreditation will now include between 3 & 5 days of practical hands-on training at NFPC’s fully equipped technical centre in Worksop.

Our partnership with NFPC is a further investment in the independent crane installation, service & repair sector of which FASSI UK, through our authorised network, is the most vigorous supporter & promoter amongst the major manufacturers.

Mitch Morgan GOLD engineer

The Crane Centre’s Mitch Morgan has achieved the highest possible accolade through the FASSI Training Academy – GOLD certified engineer.

GOLD certified engineers are the master technicians of the FASSI service network. They are experienced practitioners in the diagnosis & repair of the FX500, FX900 & FSC systems.

Being experienced engineers they have qualified for, & attained, ALLMI Thorough Examiner & Load Test accreditation.

Mitch’s achievement coincides with his promotion to service and finishing shop foreman, where he controls the day to day operation and is passing his FASSI knowledge onto the next generation of apprentices.

Congratulations on both counts Mitch.

 

Double BRONZE at Kearns & Murtagh

Marc Mcnally & John O’Callaghan have both achieved their BRONZE accreditation through the FASSI Engineer Training Academy.

Marc and John served as apprentice HGV mechanics at Kearns and Murtagh, attending day release college, gaining level three NVQ’s. Under the mentorship of veteran FASSI engineer Fintan McAteer, Marc and John began carrying out repairs and servicing on the FASSI products before enrolment in the Academy.

A BRONZE engineer is ‘fluent’ in FASSI having demonstrated mastery of the core skills necessary for looking after FASSI cranes including – crane service; using the service laptop to view black box data & update firmware; functional understanding of the FX500, FX900, FSC & MOL systems; liaison with the FASSI UK service helpdesk team (as required); crane operation / ALLMI operator license holder.

Well done Marc & John. We look forward to your SILVER awards in the very near future.

Alltruck’s Darren Ross BRONZE engineer

Darren Ross of Scotland main dealer Alltruck achieves his BRONZE engineer accreditation

Darren was already a qualified & experienced crane engineer when he joined Alltruck in 2021. Combined with his enthusiasm for the job he quickly progressed through the training academy to BRONZE level.

Daniel Christian SILVER

Smiths Mechanical Services’ Daniel Christian earns his SILVER accreditation through the FASSI Engineer Training Academy.

A SILVER engineer has demonstrated mastery in the diagnosis & repair of the FX500, FX900 & FSC control systems fitted to all FASSI cranes. Congratulations Daniel!

Smiths Mechanical Services have been the FASSI authorised service partner for South Wales for over twenty years. They specialise in crane, truck & plant repairs from their Bridgend base & their heavy haulage division even operates FASSI cranes themselves.

GOLD for Michael

Alltruck Crane Repair & Sales’ Michael McGrotty has achieved the highest possible accolade through the FASSI Training Academy – GOLD certified engineer.

GOLD certified engineers are the master technicians of the FASSI service network. They are experienced practitioners in the diagnosis & repair of the FX500, FX900 & FSC systems.

Being experienced engineers they have qualified for, & attained, ALLMI Thorough Examiner & Load Test accreditation. Well done Michael.

Michael is also an accomplished fabricator / crane installer. Here he is receiving his GOLD engineer certificate in front of a bespoke tractor unit build he created for overhead powerline specialists PLPC Ltd.

The tractor unit is fitted with a FASSI F275A.2.24 & took pride of place on the Alltruck Group’s stand at the Scotplant show last week.

Also on show was one of four new mobile workshops for Alltruck Crane Repair & Sales, fully kitted out & ready to be filled with FASSI crane spares for same day repairs.

Class of ’21

2021 has been busy for Ken West & the FASSI Training Academy with 20 engineer accreditations awarded.

We are pleased to have signed off a further five GOLD service engineers nationally, our highest accolade.

To progress through the levels the engineer must demonstrate mastery of all the skills required to our coach, Ken West. It takes a lot of time but creates real expertise. Nothing great should ever come easy!

Now entering its seventh year the academy currently has 49 active graduates with a total of 68 engineers enrolled, creating real expertise right across the UK.

Our latest graduates are Connor Boyd (Boyd Hydraulics) BRONZE, Mitch Morgan (The Crane Centre) SILVER, Mark Goulden & Steve Matthews (County Cranes) SILVER. Well done to all.
