London South Bank University create the FASSI 2017 calendar

The overall concept for the calendar was to photograph the cranes on location, to celebrate the scale of the factory spaces, their precision engineering and the aesthetic beauty of the cranes.

The FASSI Crane Art project was established in 2011 for photography students from around the world to create the images for the FASSI calendar. The work in the 2017 calendar has been created collaboratively by students studying on the BA(Hons) Photography degree at London South Bank University. The photography degree is based in the centre of London and is focused on the development of creatively innovative, industry focused and professional photographers. The course is led by Daniel Alexander, a photographer and educator.

This commission was undertaken by the South Bank Collective, a young and dynamic creative agency that offers photographic, film and design services as competitive rates. The South Bank Collective is run by the students with the support of Daniel and undertakes a range of commissioned work for different clients.

The overall concept for the calendar was to photograph the cranes on location, to celebrate the scale of the factory spaces, their precision engineering and the aesthetic beauty of the cranes. The work was all shot ‘in camera’ with minimal post production, and the group worked collectively to design, stage, light and execute each of the shots.

The calendar has been one of their most exciting commissions this year, and students worked on the development of the ideas for several months before travelling to Italy to shoot them.

We are delighted that the students have taken the calendar in a different direction to previous years. To really appreciate the students work we recommend the full sized A1 version which is available from our dealers & salespeople.
