F600AXP delivers 12t payload for MEMS
An engineering feat recognised by the Department of Transport as freight industry best practice
Leading diesel generator hire company MEMS have recently commissioned the first of two F600AXP.24 cranes for use in their specialised fleet of generator delivery vehicles.
MEMS specialise in the hire & service of diesel generators and operate their own fleet of vehicles to ensure that they can fully support the whole rental process from the initial call, to site deliveries without depending on sub contractors.
Fassi main dealer Walker Crane Services were tasked by MEMS to build two delivery vehicles offering maximum payload to allow the efficient delivery of their full range of generators. The F600AXP series offers the best power to weight ratio in its range and was therefore deemed to be ideal for MEMS requirements. This coupled with innovative subframe design has resulted in a total vehicle weight of less than 20 tonnes, thus allowing a payload of over 12 tonnes.
This incredible engineering feat was recognised in a Department of Transport Freight best practice case study.

MEMS Transport Manager, Ian Coffey commented;
“The feedback from operators has been very positive, the extra power and the smoothness of the crane’s movements have helped on site, particularly with heavier loads. The combination of the lighter & more powerful Fassi crane, the more powerful Volvo truck and vehicle design changes we developed with the help of the crane installers has given us the improvements we set out to achieve”.
The F600AXP series is fitted with all the innovative mechanical, electronic and hydraulic systems that form the fruit of constant research by Fassi. These developments all contribute to the power, agility, speed, reliability & simplicity of use associated with using Fassi cranes, which was summed up by MEMS driver Dave Best, who commented; “I've been operating cranes of all types for 25 years and this is the smoothest most responsive crane I have ever used'”.
