Stabiliser Interlocks: FASSI has it covered!

The Fassi stabiliser interlock system allows the deployment of each stabiliser to be monitored by the rated capacity limiter (RCL) system and reduces the lifting capacity in areas where the stabilisers have not been fully deployed.

The key elements of the system are:

1. Stabiliser sensors to read the position of the outriggers and stabiliser rams.

2. Rotation sensors on the crane’s slewing system to read the position of the boom.

3. Management & control by the tried & tested Fassi FX500 (F50A-F150A) or FX800 (F170A-F1500AXP) rated capacity limiting systems.

The Fassi stabiliser interlock system is compliant with the essential health & safety requirements (EHSR’s) of the new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EG that came into force on 29/12/2009.

In the example opposite the F50A.21 is shown with the outriggers deployed in the fully in & down position on both sides. (1-4 L2 / 2-3 L2).

The system has read the outrigger position and reduced the lifting capacity of the crane creating an overload condition (red light on) & preventing its use in the restricted sector. To continue working the operator must reduce the working radius to within the permissible rated capacity.
